Just looking at Henk's first picture...

That would never ever be allowed to happen in the UK, and yet Germany is subject to the same Rules as we are, BUT we GOLD PLATE them!!

And apart from that.....

The International Ship and Port Security Code would not let us get anywhere near to get onboard either!!

Other Countries just put signs up, we have 8ft high steel fences.

Rant over!

That picture was taken 1999 at the time everything was normal, long before all those rules where there and now a days we can only go on board very limited, depending on the size of the tug.

My friends who were at Hamburg for the Port Day in June this year (I stayed by the Kiel Canal!) reported gross overcrowding of the little Elbe ferries, people pushing on board unless physically pushed back by the crew for the ramp to be lifted .... who would know how many on board if no enforcement of the passenger certificate limit??
