RFA Sir Galahad
Laid down 22/2/1965 as LSL 04 and launched by Alexander Stephen & Sons Glasgow, Yard No 691, on 26/1/1967. Arrived at Gadani Beach for scrapping on 22/12/2005.

412 ft x 59 ft x 13 ft
Engines by Mirrlees National Ltd, Stockport
Twin screw, 2 x Mirrlees National ALSSDM10 diesels, 9,400 bhp giving 17 knots.
Machinery aft with bow and stern ramps plus bowthrusters.
Could take 16 tanks with munitions and fuel, or up to 60 x 4 ton trucks with accommodation for 340 troops, Could also carry a mexeflote for unloading.
Fitted with a stern Helicopter Deck
Crew 68

Completed 12/7/1967 for the Army and finished in the traditional trooping colours of white with a blue band. She was managed by the British India Steam Company
6/3/1970 she was transferred to the RFA
January 1973 part of amphibious anti-invasion Force patrolling off British Honduras (Belize)
21/6/1979 in collision with the German tanker Tarpenbek in thick fog in the Channel. The tanker sank
5/4/1982 left Devonport as part of the Falklands Amphibious Task Group with 450 Marines and 3 Gazelle helicopters
21/5/1982 entered San Carlos Water during the invasion
30/6/1982 left the Falklands
12/9/1988 grounded at the entrance to Hemnefjorden during Exercise Teamwork. She was pulled off the next day and had to be docked at Fiskerstrand for temporary repairs. This was followed by repair and refit on the Tyne
May 2000-July 2002 took part in Operation Palliser in Sierra Leone
1/5/2003 Decommissioned
July 2005 sold to Malvern Shipping and renamed Sir G, ostensibly for further trading
5/10/2005 after loading scrap at Middlesbrough sailed for India where she was scrapped
